Donate Your RMD or QCD

Donors can make a lasting impact while reducing their taxable income by donating their Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs) or making Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs). Once individuals reach age 73, they must take RMDs from their traditional IRAs, which can increase their tax burden. However, by directing up to $100,000 per year as a QCD to a qualified charity, donors can satisfy their RMD requirement while excluding the donated amount from taxable income. It is important to note that QCDs must be made directly to a qualified charity, such as the GLCF, and cannot be directed to a donor-advised fund (DAF).

Planned Gifts

Please see our Planned Giving page for more information on how to leave a charitable legacy by utilizing your life insurance, bequests, or trust

Real Estate

Real estate can be a valuable charitable gift that supports the community while providing financial benefits to you. Whether it's a primary residence, vacation home, rental property, farmland, or undeveloped land, donating real estate can:

  • Provide significant tax advantages, including an income tax deduction based on the fair market value of the property.
  • Reduce capital gains tax that would apply if the property were sold.
  • Eliminate maintenance, insurance, and property tax obligation.

Each real estate gift will be carefully evaluated to ensure it aligns with our mission and can be used effectively to benefit the community. Please contact our office to discuss this type of gift to ensure it aligns with both your philanthropic goals and our gift acceptance policy.

Personal Property

Gifts of valuable personal property can also be a meaningful way to support the community.

Donating personal property can provide tax benefits, including a charitable deduction based on the appraised value of the item. However, certain restrictions may apply based on how the asset will be used to further our mission. If you are considering donating personal property, we recommend discussing the potential gift with us to ensure it aligns with both your philanthropic goals and our gift acceptance policy.

Private Foundation Transfer

Many trustees of private foundations have found that the demands of administering and making grants have become burdensome and costly. Assets of the private foundation may be transferred to the GLCF, and a fund in the same name can be established. The former administrator (s) of the private foundation can be freed from the administrative burdens but continues as an advisor to the fund.
