"Establishing a scholarship fund in honor of our son Nelson has been profoundly rewarding,” said Heidi & Blitz James, founders of the Edwin Nelson James Jr. Memorial Scholarship. "It's a beautiful tribute to his passion for athletics, ensuring his spirit lives on by supporting aspiring student athletes in pursuing their dreams. Knowing that it's making a positive impact on deserving young individuals as they pursue higher education brings us comfort and pride."

Edwin Nelson James Jr., "Nelson", was the beloved, cherished son of Edwin Nelson James (Blitz) and Heidi Fauth James and the older brother of John Fauth James.

An honors senior at E.C. Glass High School, Nelson was a natural athlete and a member of the E. C. Glass varsity tennis, golf, and swim teams. He was an avid snowboarder and sailor. Nelson loved music and was passionate about playing the drums.

Surrounded by an incredible core of friends, he lived life with limitless energy and enthusiasm, much to the delight of his friends who never tired of the many "Nelson stories." An unassuming leader, he honed his leadership skills at the Summer Naval School of Culver Military Academy, where he spent three summers. Graduating in 2008, he earned an endorsement as proscribed for the Honor Naval Schools.

The Edwin Nelson James Jr. Memorial Scholarship has awarded scholarships to graduating student athletes at E.C. Glass High School since 2012.

Gifts in memory of Nelson may be made at any time to the Edwin Nelson James Jr. Memorial Scholarship via our Donate page.
